Obituaries

Grand Junction Daily Sentinel - June 13, 2010

It is with intense sorrow that we
share the news of the passing of
B o n i t a M a r i e ( M c K i s s e n )
Johnson. She left us Monday,
May 31, 2010 at home in Fruita,
CO, where she lived with her
daughter, Jennifer, son-in-law,
Mitchell and grandchildren, Kelly
and Chelsea Caldwell.
Bonita was born in Loma, CO on July 24, 1942 to Welden and
Lorene (Vanlandingham) McKissen. She had two older and ornery
brothers, Ray and Laverne, whom she tagged along with every
chance she got.
She grew up in Grand Junction and graduated from G.J.H.S. in
1960. Marrying William “Bill” Johnson in 1965 she went about
making and raising her family, Vicki, Jennifer and Randy. Though
living elsewhere for years, she eventually came back “home” to
Grand Junction.
Whether working at Sears in customer service, the school district
helping children learn, or at Community Hospital in medical
records, she worked very hard but with a smile on her face and
kindness towards others.
On June 17th, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. we will be gathering at
Callahan-Edfast to remember our beloved mother, daughter, sister,
aunt, grandmother and friend. Directly after the service we will meet
at New Elmwood Cemetery to say goodbye. We invite you to join
us.
We would also like to add your memories to ours, please take a
moment to write down you “best memory” of her and bring it with
you. We will add them to our “Memory Book” in progress.
