Former Routt County resident Anabell Jean Kirby died Sept. 13, 2007. She was 81.
She was born Aug. 17, 1926, to Dick and Bessie Jones in Kremmling.
She had an older brother, Dick, and an older sister, Eloise. Her childhood was spent in Toponas. She graduated from Yampa High School and then attended business school in Denver for three years. After school, she moved to Yampa to help her parents on their ranch. It was then that she met Ferris Kirby. Ferris and Annie were married May 14, 1947. In 1956, a daughter, Karla Jean, was born, and in 1959, another daughter, Rhonda, was born.
Annie enjoyed her life on the ranch. They later moved to Wolcott to run a salvage yard. Several years later, they moved to Brush Creek south of Eagle. Annie went to work at the Eagle County Courthouse. After 17 years, she retired. In 1992, they moved to Clifton.
Annie enjoyed bowling and was in a league for several years. She liked camping, boating and traveling. One of her favorite things to do was to fish. Her favorite spot was Vega Lake. Annie really loved to spend time with family and friends. Her favorite things in life were her "little sweeties," her great-granddaughters Kalee and Logan.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother and daughter Karla.
Survivors include her husband, Ferris; daughter Rhonda and her husband, Phil Kirby; son-in-law, Tom Young; granddaughters, Megan Young and Michele and her husband, Kreig Kasten; and her great-granddaughters, Kalee and Logan Kasten. Annie also is survived by numerous other family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service was held Sept. 18, 2007, at the Callahan-Edfast Mortuary with Reverend Roger Ferguson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association at 123 North Seventh St., Grand Junction, CO 81501.
