Death of Mrs. Ackley
Another of Red Cliff's Pioneers Called Home
In the death of Mrs. Cornelia Victoria Ackley, who died at Leadville last Wednesday Morning at 9:30 Red Cliff Loses one of its earliest settlers and one who was the friend to everyone. Mrs. Ackley came to Red Cliff in 1884 and has made this a permanent residence ever since. She was born in Elyrie, Ohio, July 16, 1840, coming to this state in 1884 from Oak Hill, Kansas at which place she resided several years. She was married in 1865.
Mrs. Ackley has been confined to her bed for the past year and a half with paralysis, the doctors not being able to benefit her she was taken to the hospital at Leadville. She was one of those sweet gentle natures who take great pleasure in doing kind deeds for others and her life has been made up of kindnesses which have won the love of all who knew her.
The funeral took place this afternoon at 1 o'clock from Congregational church of Red Cliff. The church was crowded with relatives and friends of the deceased. The services were conducted by Rev. Pringle, of Leadville.
The choir was comprised of Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Ralph Northrup, Malcum Macaulay, and J. D. Filmore.
The interment was made in the Evergreen Cemetery this afternoon, the following being the pallbearers: F. V. Burbank, Wm. Greiner, J. B. Dowd, Jim Collins, O.W. Daggett and F. McAvoy.
The deceased leaves the following children to mourn her loss: Frank Ackley, who is now in California, Mrs. Sophia Malcolm, of Kansas who is here to attend the funeral; Mrs. Jack McArthur, Solon D. Ackley and G. A. Ackley, all of Red Cliff.
