Doris M. Metziner
September 12, 1927 - April 23, 2007

Former Oak Creek resident Doris M. Metziner went to be with her Lord early morning April 23, 2007, at her home in Grand Junction. She was 79.
Doris was born Sept. 12, 1927, to Lucille and John Bujaci of Puritan, where her father was a coal miner. He later moved the family to Florence, Erie and Oak Creek, following mining jobs during the Great Depression.
Doris was the eldest of nine children and spent much of her childhood helping care for her younger brothers and sisters. By age 13, Doris was working in a grocery store to help support the family.
It was while living in Oak Creek that she met the love of her life, Jim. He later went off to the Pacific theater of World War II as a U.S. Navy corpsman. While Jim was in the war, Doris attended and graduated Barnes Business School with an associate's degree. After the war, Jim returned and married Doris. The two lived in Boulder while Jim earned a degree in pharmacy. Doris was a devoted mother and wife, helping her husband run a drug store in Oak Creek and Steamboat Springs.
Doris' passion was her family. She was happiest during family gatherings, whether camping near Trapper's Lake, hosting a family reunion at her home or celebrating an important achievement of one of her grandchildren, Doris found joy in serving her family.
She is survived by her children, Jim and his wife, Helen Metziner, of Festus, Mo., Janice and her husband, Herb Hainlen, of Westminster, and Connie and her husband, Terry Bradley, of Colorado Springs; seven brothers and sisters, Jack Bujaci of Denver, Larry Bujaci of Castle Rock, Lois Heppler of Littleton, Judi Parker of Northglenn, Jim Bujaci of Colorado Springs, Bob Bujaci of Denver and Helen Smith of Lakewood; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held April 27, 2007, at the chapel at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Graveside services followed at the Grand Junction Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Frontier School of the Bible at P.O. Box 217, Lagrange, WY 82221.
