MILITARY FUNERAL FOR TOM RUSSELL TUESDAY
The body of Tom Russell, Eagle’s first Korean War casualty, will arrive here Saturday morning, and be at the Bowman Funeral Chapel until Tuesday. Military funeral services will be conducted by American Legion Post 150 of Gypsum, in the Eagle School Gym at 2 p- m. on Tuesday afternoon for the former Eagle High School student, who was killed in action in Octobera few weeks after he arrived in Korea, with his Marine unitBurial will be in the Eagle cemetery. TOM RUSSELL BURIED IN EAGLE TUESDAY

Tom Russell, Eagle's first Korean War dead, was laid to rest in the Eagle cemetery Feb- 10, at an impressive military funeral. When the flag draped casket arrived in Eagle Saturday morning at 5 a. m- f accompanied by the dead Marine’s brother, Cpl Larry Russell, it was met by a large group of Legionnaires of the Eagle River Valley Post 150. American Legion, who escorted the body to the Bowman Funeral Chapel in Eagle. The Post s color guard preceded the Bowman hearse on the four block march to the chapel. The Post held military services in the Eagle High School gym Tuesday and Don Price of the Jehovah Witness church in Glenwood officiated at the religious service. Graveside services were also conducted by th e American Legion, and burial was under direction of Bowmans. The Eagle school was dismissed for the last service held in it's building for the young man who left high school in his senior year just two years ago this month, to volunteer his services in the Marines.

Pall bearers were Marine Sergeant Bill Feathers, Jack Gamble, Warren Black, Marcus Mosher, Duane Larsen, and Dave isTom Russell was born to Mr. and Mrs- Art Russell at McCoy, Colorado, April 14. 1933. When he was seven years of age. his parents moved to Eagle, where he received his grade and high school education- In February, 1951, with his brother, Larry, enlisted in the Marine Corps, and received training at Camp Pendelton, Calif. Last August he was one of 80 Marines to volunteer for overseas duty, and sent to Korea. He was killed two months later—October 27. Surviving are his parents, one brother, Larry; and three sisters, Viola Burnett, Zanada and Donna Russell all of Eagle. An aunt, Mrs. Olive Salladav lives in Gypsum-
