Doris Lee (Hofmeister) Sanders, of Independence, Mo., went home to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on Nov. 25, 2008, surrounded by her family at her home. She was 79.
Doris was born July 3, 1929, in Quincy, Ill., to Walter E. and Frieda W. (Frey) Hofmeister. She was united in marriage to Donald J. Sanders on Dec. 25, 1950. Mrs. Sanders was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to the care and service of others.
Doris is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald J. Sanders; children Donna L. Hansen and her husband, Rory, of Arizona, Debra K. Sanders, of Arkansas, David F. Sanders and his wife, Maria, of Missouri; five granddaughters; and brother Roger W. Hofmeister and his wife, Donna.
Graveside services were held Saturday at Xander Cemetery in Liberty, Ill. A memorial service will be held today at First United Methodist Church in Independence, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice.
