HARRY W. SATTERFIELD 1930--1995
Harry W. "Mike" SATTERFIELD, formerly of Red Cliff and Eagle, died Nov. 20 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Junction following a lengthy illness. He was 65.
Mr. SATTERFIELD was born April 16, 1930 in Red Cliff to Lester and Dollie (Buffington) SATTERFIELD. He spent his childhood in DeBeque and Rifle where he also attended school. He married Rhodora R. REVELLE on June 1, 1954 in DeBeque.
He resided in Red Cliff, DeBeque, Rifle and Eagle before moving to Grand Junction in 1991.
He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict and also two years with the U.S. Army. He was interested in rodeoing and hunting and spent much of his adult work career as a logger and heavy equipment operator in the Vail area, where he cleared the resort's first ski slopes for Vail Associates.
Survivors include his wife, Rhodora of Gypsum; sons Tony W. (Doris) SATTERFIELD of Gypsum, and Tim (Shenan) SATTERFIELD of Mack, Colo.; daughters Debbie BROWN and Sherry SATTERFIELD, both of Grand Junction; brothers Darrell of Mack and Russ of Grand Junction; sister Jean HART of Rolla, Mo., numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and grandchildren Twanya, Tiffany and Taisja of Grand Junction; Lisa and Cody of Gypsum; and Timmy and Amanda of Mack.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Military burial rites were performed during graveside rites by VFW Post No. 1247 and No. 4663 on Nov. 25 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grand Junction. The Rev.Eddie SCROGGINS officiated.
