Papee “Pat” Seabry, who raised her family in Eagle, died at Community Hospital on May 7. She was 89.

She was born in Leadville on July 12, 1917, to Rade and Boja Kalanj. She spent her childhood in Leadville and graduated from Leadville High School in 1936.

She married James H. Seabry on June 9, 1940, and in 1948 moved to Eagle, where they raised two daughters and were involved in the community. She was named the 2004 Senior Citizen of the Year.

Seabry’s high school nickname was “Pep” and her favorite saying was “We had such a good time,” family members and friends said.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; brothers Louis and George Kalanj; and sister Millie Tryon.

She is survived by her sisters, Sophie Kalanj and Zora Skala; daughters Judy Troxel and Jean (Walt) Bhagatram; grandchildren Kyle (Rachel) Troxel and Tanya Troxel, and Alexander, Katia and Nicholas Bhagatram; and great grandsons, Nico Troxel and Nicky Bhagatram.

A celebration of Seabry’s life will take place at 1 p.m., July 14, at the Senior Center in Eagle. The family asks that memorial contributions be made in her name to any charity.
