Foster SMITH, a long-time resident of Eagle, died March 22 in Glenwood Springs. He was 90 years old.
Mr. SMITH was born March 14, 1900, in Stillwater, Okla., the son of Starling and Ella SMITH. He moved from Paonia to Eagle and was a resident of the community for 50 years.
Mr. SMITH married Eleanor DUPREE March 29, 1941, in Bartlesville, Okla. He owned and operated Foster Motors in Eagle. He was a member of Masonic Temple Castle Lode No. 122 since 1926. He was also a member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 86 in Eagle. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor SMITH of Eagle; three sons, Charles SMITH of Natal, Brazil, Kenneth E. SMITH of Pagosa Springs, and Harold F. SMITH of Denver; one daughter, Ella BINDLEY of Eagle; two brothers, Ray SMITH of Tulsa, Okla., and John SMITH of Vinita, Calif.; and two sisters, Lena SOLOMAN of Dallas and Abi SPARWASSER of Venita, Calif.
Mr. SMITH had 12 grandchildren,, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie DUPREE, in 1939.
A memorial service was held Monday, March 26, at the Eagle Community United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken THOMPSON officiating.
