Doris Naomi Stewart, 73, a 53 year resident of the Sweetwater and Gypsum area, died August 26 at the Colorado General Hospital of Denver. She was born the daughter of Golden and Mamie Mcintosh Thompson on August 20, 1907 in the town of Goldfield, Nev. She grew up in Montana and married Carl Stewart in October of 1925. One year later they came to Sweetwater area to ranch.
From 1947 to 1968, the ran the Gypsum grocery store before retiring. Mr. Stewart died on March 14, 1974.
Mrs Stewart is survived by two daughters, Shirlee Gamble of Alaska and Maxine Lewis of New Mexico; two brothers, Bruce Thompson of Anaconda, Mont., and Dale Thompson of Longmont; one sister, Phoebe Stewart of Grand Junction . Funeral services at Gypsum Methodist on August 30, Rev. Steve Goodier officiating, burial followed at Cedar Hill.
