McCoy Man Killed in Car Accident
Howard G. Stonestreet, 53, of McCoy died in an Oak Creek hospital Monday, six hours after bis car rolled into the Colorado river two miles east off McCoy. J. H. Taylor, 66, the only passenger, received bruises and was treated in Oak Creek. The Stonestreet car was traveling east when it went out of control on a hill and traveled 128 feet before going over the bank 83 feet into the riverThe car and its occupants were discovered by Hugh Harris of Denver, who was enroute with his family to the home of par-ents-in-law, Mr and Mrs Howard Nunn at Carlsburg. Harris, noticing wheel marks going over the embankment, investigated, to find the men trapped in the car, which balanced on a rock in the river- Harris held the men above water until his wife could bring help to free, them. i Mr. Stonestreet was the state’s! 108th highway fatality.
