Ann STRELL, a local resident of Wolcott and Glenwood Springs, died Jan. 6 in Pueblo. She was 87.
Mrs. STRELL was born to Matthias and Antonia KOPRINIKAR on July 4,1905 in Leadville, and lived her childhood in Glenwood Springs where she particularly enjoyed swimming and reading.
Her passion was school which she attended until, as the eldest child, she had to return to Wolcott to help her family at their ranch.
In 1924 she married John STRELL of Leadville and settled there. After suffering the loss of an infant, she went on to make a home for her husband and her daughter Lorraine. Later she became an active grandmother to Lorraine's children, David and Mark Francis. Her husband died in 1977. She also survived the death of many friends and family, including her brothers Daniel and Matthew and her sisters Edith and Katherine. While living most of her life in Leadville, Mrs. STRELL also lived in Salida and Moab, Utah.
Always a generous person, Ann STRELL will be missed by many people but particularly by her surviving family: Lorraine and James LONG, David and Barbara Francis with their children Renee and Adam and Mark and Maureen Francis with their children Emily, Mathew and Laura.
Mass of Christian burial was Thursday, Jan. 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leadville with Father Bob JAEGER officiating. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Leadville. Funeral arrangements were handled by Bailey Funeral Home.
