Hilda G. Engstrom of Glenwood Springs died Wednesday at the Glen Valley Nursing Home. She was 97. She was born August 22, 1894 in Hamilton, Montana the daughter of Adolf and Anna (Anderson) Lundgren. She came to Gypsum in 1907 where her folks bought a ranch and a mercantile store where she worked until her marriage. In 1916 she married Elmer P. Engstrom of Gypsum. They lived in Leadville, New Castle, and Gypsum before settling in Glenwood Springs in 1943. Mrs. Engstrom worked at Bill Bullocks department store for many years. One of her main enjoyments was her card clubs, followed closely by her entertaining family and friends for coffee. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death yby her husband, Elmer, who died in 1950 and a sister, Minnie Lundgren who died in 1941. Survivors are son and daughter-in-law, Elmer W. and Laura Engstrom of Glenwood Springs; daughters and son-in-laws, Martha and Malcom Smith of Glenwood Springs, Sonya and Neal Morris of Carbondale; brother, Elmer Lundgren of Grand Junction; three grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs. Farnum-Holt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
