Mrs. Mae Erickson of Gypsum died in a Glenwood nursing home October 15 at the age of 75 years. She had been ill for several months. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Bill Bowden at the Methodist Church in Gypsum, October 18 and burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Gypsum. Crater Rebekah Lodge conducted a graveside service.
Mae Otten was born at Old Rouse, Colorado July 18, 1896 and spent her childhood at Silt. She was married to Herman Erickson in Glenwood Springs, August 20, 1917. They made their home in the Eagle-Gypsum communities, where Mr. Erickson ranched for many years, before Mr. Erickson owned and operated a filling station in Gypsum. He died in 1963. Mrs. Erickson was a member of Crater Rebekah Lodge 105 of Gypsum; the American Legion Auxiliary of Gypsum, and was an active member of the Eagle County Democratic Party. She is survived by a son, Richard L. of Dove Creek. One son, Albert, preceded her in death. Also surviving are two brothers: John and Noah of Silt and four grandchildren.
