Lela Terry Died Sunday

The Eagle River valley has lost a friend, who during her 30 years in the valley was friend and helpmate to many. Lela Terry is dead- Although in bad health for several years, her death came as a shock to her family and the great host of friends. She had spent many weeks during the past few years In hospitals and doctor's offices. She apparently was no worse than at previous times, when she got out of bed Sunday morning- She died a few moments later.

Lela Beard was bom April 19, 1903 at Divide Creek, Colo, to Mr. and Mrs Ernest Beard, She spent her childhood at Divide Creek, attending Fairview School. Her high school education was received at Ft. Collins. On March 17 < 1921. she became the wife of Wm. (Jack) Terry in Olenwood Springs. Mr. and Mrs Terry spent most o( thodr married life In the Edwards community. With no children of her own, Lela mothered every neighborhood child, when the need arose. She was usually the first one to arrive in a home where there was sorrow. She was volunteer member on many community committees. Ilia's death leaves an emptiness in the hearts of many. Among Lela's many community service* was that of rural news correspondent for The Eagle Valley Enterprise—a chore she dud accurately and faithfully—and one fully appreciated by her neighbors and the newspaper. Funeral services are Friday afternoon at 2:30 in the Edwards Community House. Cremation will follow. The Burdge Mortuary ' s 4,1 charge of arrangementsLei a is survived by her husband, Jack; two sisters: Gladys Dean, and Mabel Bushey of EH Monte. Calif, and one brother, Harold Beard of Rifle.
