Minus D. WInters

Funeral services for Minus Dewey "Tom" Winters of Fruita, a former longtime resident of Eagle, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5 at the Marin Mortuary Chapel in Grand Junction.

Mr. Winters died of natural causes Thursday, Feb. 1 at the Family Health West Care Center in Grand Junction. He was 91.

Mr. WInters was a farmer and irrigator, and had been a resident of Mesa County since 1970.

He was born July 4, 1898 in Muskogee, Okla., the son of Ben B. Winters and Pulaska Winters. He spent his childhood in Oklahoma.

He married Ruby Snowden in 1944 in Grand Junction. She died March 21, 1989 in Fruita.

Mr. Winters lived in Eagle until moving to Grand Junction in 1970. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

He enjoyed hiking with his grandchildren, gardening, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include four sons, Joe Winters of San Diego, Dewey Winters of Cortez, Lloyd Winters of Scappose, Ore. and Joe Winters of Montrose; two daughters, Muriel Helms of Eagle and Ferne Guffey of Coretz; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and eight sisters.

The Rev. Leon Hataway officiated at Monday's services. Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grand Junction.
