Memorial services for Gertrude DICE, a longtime resident of New Castle, will be Thursday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Glenwood Springs. The Rev. Joel MILLER will officiate.
Mrs. DICE died Sunday. She was 54.
She was born March 2, 1934, in Cardiff, Colo., and grew up in Glenwood Springs. In June 1952 she married Lawrence Joe Dice. She and her husband were ranchers in New Castle.
She was active in several youth organizations and a 30-year member of the Farm Bureau in Eagle and Garfield counties.
Mrs. DICE was also a 4-H leader in Eagle and Garfield counties and taught Sunday School for five years.
Surviving are her husband, Lawrence Joe DICE of New Castle; a son and daughter, Fred DICE and Deb DICE, both of New Castle; three brothers, Chuck GARDNER, Harvey GARDNER and Herbert GARDNER, all of Glenwood Springs; six sisters, Laura BAIR of Carbondale, Dorothy SWIFT of Golden, Ellie ARLIAN of Big Timber, Mont., Kate WAGNER of Glenwood Springs, Shirley HOLGATE of Wilmington, Del., and Julia CURTIS of Montrose; numerous nephews and nieces and three grandchildren.
Donations in memory of Mrs. DICE are being accepted through Valley View Hospital, P.O. Box 1970, Glenwood Springs, Colo., 81602. Farnum-Richardson Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
