Joseph Michael Estrada was
born on May 7, 1926 to Paul and
Paula (Sanchez) Estrada in Grand
Junction. He grew up in Grand
Junction and graduated from
Grand Junction High School. He
enlisted in the U.S. Army and
proudly served his Country from
1943 - 1946, being honorably discharged
as a Sergeant. He married
Betty Estrada on September 9, 1948. He enjoyed his life long
occupation as a culinary chef.
Joseph was a member of the Latin Anglo Alliance, Moose Lodge,
and the VFW Post 1247. He was also a member of St. Joseph’s
Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, reading, playing bingo and
gambling in Black Hawk. He loved his children and grandchildren,
they gave him tremendous joy as did his dog, Jake.
Those who will miss Joseph are his son, Robert (Jane) Estrada of
Grand Junction; daughters, Martha (Robert) Hakel of Grand Junction;
Veronica Brown of Longmont, CO; Kathy (James) Schneeweis
of San Dimas, California; ten grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren,
and three great great grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Betty, and step-son, Leo Martinez.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 9 - 10:30
a.m. at Callhan-Edfast Mortuary. A Catholic Mass will be held at
11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial
to follow at the Veteran’s Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
