Joseph James BRETT, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph BRETT of De Beque was born April 15, 1947, and died in his sleep April 13, 1968.
Jimmy and his family lived in Edwards, Grand Junction and New Castle until September, 1950 when the family moved to De Beque.
On Dec. 20, 1954 his mother had a serious heart surgery and was not completely recovered when on March 11, 1955 Jimmy was severely injured and not expected to live for six weeks.
He was left with convulsions caused from scar tissue on the brain. In 1961 he had an operation in Phoenix, Ariz., to remove the scar tissue and it was hoped that the operation would cure the convulsions. However this was not the case, and Jimmy was unable to live an active life.
He is survived by his parents and a sister, Patricia Ann; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph SANDERSON of Long Island, N.Y.; grandmother, Leona BRETT, Edwards, Colorado, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
