Juliette AnaLisa Romero passed away at The Children's Hospital in Aurora on Wednesday.

Juliette was just 2 years old. She was diagnosed eight months ago with a very rare brain tumor and from that point on, little Juliette fought with everything she had to stay with us.

She was a fighter with an enormous heart and an unbelievable capacity for love. Throughout her illness and treatment at the hospital, Juliette always knew exactly who was in her room and would make eye contact with every individual. When someone came to visit, she would give them the most beautiful and warm smile before reaching out for a hug.

Juliette's support reached way beyond her family and friends. People who had never met her were praying and pulling for her. And in return, Juliette enriched their lives as well. Knowing it would have been what she wanted, Juliette's family chose to donate her corneas and gave permission for her doctors to perform extensive studies on the brain tumor that took her life. So even in death, Juliette is helping others and giving them her love.

Juliette Romero is preceded in death by grandparents, Julie Ann Mortensen, Rose Garcia, Mary Noriega, Pilar Garcia and Pauline Mortensen; her cousin, AnaLisa Romero; and uncle Robert Merrill.

She is survived by her parents, Jeanie Garcia and Michael Romero; and grandparents Richard Garcia, Debbie and Lonnie Hoppe, Kathy and David Romero, Sally and Joe Romero and Don and Bea Merrill. Juliette is also survived by a huge extended family, all of whom will miss her very much.

Services were held April 11 with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Leadville. Pastor Dan Matney from the New Life Assembly of God Church in Avon officiated.

Arrangements were handled by Bailey Funeral Home.
