Mary M. Kastendieck of Grand Junction passed away Wednesday,
July 7, 2010 at Mantey Heights Care Center at the age of 98.
Mary was born October 3, 1911 in New Market, IA to William
Murray and Ethel Anderson. At an early age, the family moved to
Florence, CO. On August 7, 1931 she married August Kastendieck
of Westcliff, CO. Together they worked the family ranch. In 1944,
Mary and August moved to Ridgeway, CO. For 17 years they owned
and operated the Columbine Hotel in Delta, CO.
Mary leaves behind a son, Clifford (Kay) Kastendieck of Grand
Junction; daughters, Irma Jean (Bob) McCreery of Denver, CO;
Elaine (Myles) Brownlow of Scottsbluff, NE; and Jody Kastendieck
of the family home; seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and
16 great great grandchildren; one brother, Royal Anderson of Florence,
CO; and two sisters, Pauline Carning of Florence, CO and
Lois Van De Grift of Seattle, WA; along with a host of nieces and
nephews. Her husband, August Kastendieck; one son, Carl; two
grandchildren; two sisters and five brothers preceded Mary in death.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 12, 2010 from 10 - 11:00 a.m.
at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary with the funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow the funeral in Delta City Cemetery, Delta, CO.
"Please do not mourn for me for I am in a better place. I can now
see, I can now hear, I have no pain."

Burial will be at Delta City
Cemetery.
Survivors include one son,
Clifford; three daughters, Irma
McCreery, Elaine Brownlow and
Jody Kastendieck; one brother,
Royal Anderson; two sisters,
Pauline Carning and Lois Van
De Grift; seven grandchildren;
14 great-grandchildren; and 16
great-great grandchildren.
