HEART ATTACK FATAL TO GENE FROST.
Gene FROST, the last member of an early day Eagle family dropped dead in a ranch field Sept. 13, working in the hay.
Mr. Frost had been employed on the Charles Eaton ranch this summer, and was working with Mr. EATON, when he suffered a heart attack. He had been under the care of a doctor for several months for the heart condition, and his sudden death was not a surprise to his close friends and nieces.
Mr. FROST, one of four children of Wilbur and Abigail FROST was born at Eagle August 30, 1892 and lived his entire life in the Eagle vicinity.
He was educated at schools now non-existent. He attended school at Fulford, when that once mining town, boasted a large population, being taught by Mabel BROWN, the present Mrs. Mabel COLERICK. Mr. FROST also attended school on Bursh creek--a school now abandoned.
The parents preceded Mr. FROST in death, and are buried on the Newcomer ranch on Brush creek. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Phoebe THORPE, Mary SMITH and a sister who died in infancy.
He is survived by four nieces: Alice SMITH, Fruita; Rose SWITZLER, Uravan; Ruby PERRY, Grand Junction and Mary THORPE of Grand Junction, all of whom were in Eagle Tuesday for their uncle's funeral.
The funeral service was conducted at the Eagle Methodist church by the Reverend Byron HASSTEDT, and the arrangements were directed by Bowman Mortuary of Eagle.
Mr. FROST was a veteran of World War I, serving in Europe. Military services were held at his graveside in Sunset View cemetery, Eagle by American Legion Post 150.
Pall bearers were Harold and Rolland RANDALL, Charles and Melvin EATON, Tom TAYLOR and John CLARK.
