Jean passed away at her home in
Grand Junction at the age of 83
surrounded by family.
Jean was born in Webb City,
Missouri to parents, Stanley and
Minnie Elgin Stone. Jean very
much loved her family and they
held an important place in her
heart throughout her life. Jean left school at the age of 15 to work
and help her family. She married Robert Vaughn on March 24th,
1944 and they raised their five beloved children together before divorcing
in 1972. On September 20, 1988 Jean was remarried and
spent four years with Jim Eddy. Jean then found her final love in
Robert Chaffin whom she married on May 12th, 1998.
Jean is survived by Jim Eddy; her husband, Robert Chaffin; sister,
Raydean Stone Briggs and children, Glenn Dale Vaughn, Robert
Keith Vaughn, Lynda Janice Murray, Marcia Dean Miller and Evelyn
Lee Lenard. Jean is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, 37
great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Jean was
preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Minnie Elgin Stone;
her husband, Robert Vaughn and her siblings, Mary Waldo, Dale
Stone, Doris Joseph Stone and Merle Waldo.
Jean loved the Lord and her family is happy to know that she is
now celebrating her time on earth in the arms of Jesus. Jean was a
loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great
Great Grandmother and she will be missed. Jean provided loving
support to her family and was always there to give comfort. She
would often turn to scripture and prayer to aid her in comforting her
family. Her family remembers her speaking often of her favorite
bible passage, 91st Psalm and will hold these memories close to
their hearts.
A visitation will be held at Martin Mortuary on Sunday, August 8th
from 6 - 8:00 p.m. A celebration of Jean's life will be held at Martin
Mortuary on Monday, August 9th at 10:00 a.m. This will be followed
by a grave side service at Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m. A
reception is planned for 12:00 p.m., following the services, at the
Mollie Long Shelter (near the playground) at the Long Family Memorial
Park. Family and friends of Jean are invited to all services
and the reception.
