Jim Garlitz had a heart attack
and passed away at his home Saturday,
August 7, 2010. Jim was
born to Gerald and Beva Garlitz
in Grand Junction February 20,
1940. Jim is survived by his wife,
Donna (Roy) Garlitz; a son and
daughter-law, Gerald "Jerry"
Garlitz and Glenda Hamer-Garlitz;
a daughter, Tammy Garlitz;
five grandchildren, Thomas Bartelt, Aaron Bartelt, Dawn
Bartelt-Holmes, Crystal Bartelt, and Ashley Bartelt; three great
grandchildren, McKayla, Morgan, and Adisyn, and his brother and
sister-in-law, Dalt and Pat Garlitz.
Jim attended school at the Hunter and Rhone grade schools and attended
Fruita High School. Following his graduation in 1958, he
continued his education at Mesa Junior College and graduated with
an associate degree. He later trained to become a master plumber.
In 1977, he started his own business, Valley West Plumbing.
Jim and Donna were married in Grand Junction on February 22,
1963. They started their married life in Boulder, Colorado, but returned
to their hometown in 1969.
Jim's hobby became farming his home property and later his
father's home acres. He loved to see the growing crops and to take
care of them.
Visitations may be made at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson
Road, Grand Junction, CO, Friday, August 13, 2010 between 9
and 9:45 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment
be at the New Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita. In lieu of flowers, the
family requests a contribution be made in Jim's name to Hospice &
Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 3090B North 12th Street,
Grand Junction, CO 81506.

Jim Garlitz, 70, Fruita, died
Aug. 7, 2010, at his home.
Visitation will be from 9 to
10 a.m. Friday, followed by services
at 10 at Callahan-Edfast
Mortuary. Burial will be at New
Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita.
Mr. Garlitz was owner-operator
of Valley West Plumbing.
Survivors include his wife,
Donna; one son, Jerry of Fruita;
one daughter, Tammy of Grand
Junction; one brother, Dalt of
Grand Junction; fi ve grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.
