GABRIEL LUCKSINGER.
One of the earliest pioneers of the Frying Pan valley passed away at his home in Basalt, Thursday, April 14, 1927.
Mr. LUCKSINGER was born in Glares, Switzerland in 1841, and at very young age he came to the United States and for several years worked in various eastern cities. In 1882 he felt the call of the West and came to Colorado. He left his family in the east, and, with his brother, walked from Denver to Leadville, later going on to Aspen. After he had established a home, which was on the same site as the present home in Basalt, he brought his family out. Here he has lived very contentedly, enjoying the best of health until the past two years.
He is survived by a wife, three daughters, Mrs. Frances RUTHERFORD and Mrs. Julia FRISON, both of Basalt; and Mrs. Anna BURGEN of Denver; two granddaughters, Zella LUCKSINGER of Burlingame, Calif.; and Mrs. Ione SMITH of Colorado Springs; one sister, Mrs. Katherine BAUMLEY, of Switzerland; two brothers, Markus and Jake of Slater, Colo. -- Communicated.
