FRANK MARTIN JOINS THE MAJORITY.
The procession of pioneers is marchin on over the Great Divide to the land of eternal rest. Frank MARTIN has joined their number.
Mr. MARTIN has been a hard rock miner for over forty years, coming to Colorado and Leadville in an early day, moving to Red Cliff and Gilman over thirty-two years ago, always engaged in mining, principally in the quartzite and lime ore zones. Mining was all MARTIN ever took an interest in. He had several good leases on Battle Mountain; at the time of his death he was interested in a lease with his brother Henry of Cripple Creek, on the Ben Butler mine, which as been one of the big producers in the camp; here is where Frank contracted lung trouble, the cause of his death, bad, dusty air.
Although Mr. MARTIN was a man of the most robust physique, he paid the penalty that has been the lot of many hard rock miners.
Mr. MARTIN married Mrs. Anna HYDUCK in 1905, who survives him.
He was taken to Denver three weeks ago, hoping that a lower altitude would relieve him, but it was too late. He passed away 6 o'clock Monday morning, March 22nd in St. Joseph's Hospital at Denver, 60 years of age.
Besides his widow, he leaves two brothers, Henry of Denver and Cripple Creek, and James of Wisconsin and a daughter in California.
Funeral services were held from the Olinger Mortuary and the remains laid to rest by the side of his daughter.
Mrs. MARTIN is going to her daughter's home, Mrs. Esther Hyduck WORREL, of Los Angeles for a time.
The Kinnikinick Circle, of which Mrs. Martin was local clerk sent a floral offering in tribute to his memory. So passeth the procession of pioneers.
The pall bearers for Frank MARTIN were all oldtimers of Eagle county, now living in Denver, Wm. N. BUELL, Wm. W. WALSH, Wm. PENDER, Edwin BORG, Ralph and Jake MEYERS. The floral offerings were profuse.
