Elmer August NELSON was born in Georgetown, Colorado, June 4, 1885, the son of Sophia and Peter NELSON.
His parents moved to Eagle County in 1885, homesteading west of Minturn when Elmer was three months old. The original Nelson homestead remained in the family and it was in the modern home built on this land in later years, near the highway, the Elmer died Jan. 11.
He was laid to rest in Riverside [sic.] Cemetery at Minturn, beside his parents, who preceded him in death.
Pall bearers were Quinton SAGRILLO, Wm. H. LUBY, H. A. NOTTINGHAM, Geroge BRYANT, W. W. WALSH and Glen MOORE.
Miss Roxie ZEIMER sang "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Sweet By and By," accompanied by Mrs. Howard G. BAYER at the piano. Services were conducted by Bowman Funeral Home, and the funeral sermon was given by Rev. J. RANDALL in the Minturn Presbyterian Church Friday.
Mr. NELSON leaves to mourn his passing three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Jennie HARTIGAN, of Denver; Mrs. Hilma GUSTAFSON of Wheatridge; Mrs. Anna GUIRE of Glenwood Springs; Oscar NELSON of Denver and Albert NELSON of Minturn; four nieces and three nephews and fifteen great nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends throughout the county who remember and admire him for his unassuming manner and true neighborliness and friendship which endeared him to all who knew him.

ELMER NELSON DIED IN MINTURN HOME TUESDAY.
Elmer NELSON, 69, member of a pioneer family of Minturn, died at his home in Minturn Tuesday morning. Mr. NELSON had been in failing health for the past few years.
Funeral services will be in the Minturn Presbyterian Church Friday afternoon.
Mr. Nelson's obituary will be published next week.
