MRS. HUME WHITE DIED IN GLENWOOD. Eagle county and Colorado lost a respected citizen this week, when Mrs. Hume S. WHITE, wife of a prominent Colorado lawyer, and resident of Eagle, died in Porter's Hospital in Glenwood Springs, November 13.
Death came from a heart ailment which had confined Mrs. WHITE to the hospital for several weeks.
Keenly interested in young people, Mrs. WHITE was educated to work with children. She received her elementary education in San Antonio, Texas, and Wolf Hall, Denver then atended the University of Chicago, majoring in child welfare. Following her graduation she was associated with Hull House in Chicago then taught kindergarten in San Antonio for a short time, before returning to Denver where she was employed by the Mothers' Congress and the Parent Teachers' Association, working with the founders of these groups, Mrs. NOBLE and Mrs. DICK.
Genevieve CHILSON was born in Mandan, North Dakota April 6, 1885. With her family she moved to Kansas and later to Texas. On October 29, 1913 she was married to Hume S. WHITE in Denver, son of pioneer Eagle people, and then a young lawyer in Denver. A son, George Griffith, was born to the Whites November 8, 1914, and in August, 1920 the three came to Eagle to make their residence, becoming leaders in civic and county affairs.
Of the Christian Science faith, private services of that church were held at the Rogers Mortuary Chapel in Denver, Thursday. Arrangements were directed by Bowman Funeral Chapel of Eagle.
She is survived by her husband, Hume S. WHITE; her son, George G.; a granddaughter, Carolyn WHITE and grandson, Hume Stanley WHITE, II and a daughter-in-law, Audrey K. WHITE.
