HENRY BAER BURIED IN EAGLE SUNDAY.
Funeral services were held in the Eagle Methodist church Sunday afternoon, Nov. 9 for Henry BAER, who died at his home here Nov. 5 at the age of 93.
Mr. BAER had been a resident of Colorado since 1902, living nearly all the past 50 years in Eagle, where he operated a dray business until his retirement a few years ago.
Henry BAER was born June 2, 1859 at Buffalo City, Wis. to John and Anna BAER. The family took up a homestead 13 miles northeast of Alma, Wis., then moved to Missouri when Henry was 15 years of age. They lived there until he was 19 when his father died, then moved back to the old homestead. At the age of 22, Henry decided to become a telegrapher and attended school at Janesville, Wisconsin then was sent to Marathon, Iowa as an assistant telegrapher. Tiring of the profession, and at the urging of mother and brother he returned to Wisconsin to sell the family ranch. It was then he met Lucy May CROSS, whom he married on August 13, 1885 then moved to Nebraska to farm, later taking up a homestead in Chase county, Neb. Drouth forced the young couple to give up their ranch, and in 1902 they moved to Colorado.
Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. BAER: Anna, Marion and Edward, all of whom preceded the parents in death. Mrs. BAER died July 24, 1947, at the age of 81.
Mr. BAER fell in his home last June and broke his hip. The accident left him an invalid. He has been taken care of in his home for the past seven years by Mrs. George PRIEST. Wednesday evening, Nov. 5 Mr. Baer died quietly at the age of 93 years, five months.
Burial was in the Eagle cemetery, with services in charge of the Bowman Funeral Chapel. The funeral service was given by Rev. Delbert PAULSON.
Mr. BAER was one of five children: Fred, Godfrey and John all preceded him in death. His sister, Anna MILEV survives and lives in Beecher, Ill. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A niece Selina BAER of Alma, Wis., also survives.
Grandchildren who were here for the funeral included Earl BAER and family of Climax; Cecil BAER and family of Oak Creek; Clarence RULE and wife of Denver; Mrs. Carl VETTER and family of Carbondale; Howard BROWN of Grand Junction and Iola KNUTH of Gypsum; and his daughter-in-law Pearl BAER of Sweetwater.
Mr. PRIEST of Climax and the PRIEST's daughter, Mrs. George MILLS and husband of Craig were also here for the service.

HENRY BAER DIED WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
Henry BAER, Eagle's oldest citizen,passed away at his home in Eagle Wednesday night. Mr. BAER had celebrated his 94th birthday last June.
Mr. BAER had been confined to his home since a fall several months ago, when he broke his hip. Of recent weeks, he had been confined to bed.
Until his fall, with the aid of his faithful housekeeper and nurse, Mrs. George PRIEST, Mr. BAER made regular trips to town, and entertained his many friends at his home. His health has been steadily failing for the past several months, and death came quietly Wednesday.
With Mr. BAER's passing, the town loses a fine old gentleman, of whom it truly can be said, "he had not a mortal enemy."
Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church in Eagle Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev. Delbert PAULSON officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Chapel.
