Shirley J. Fisette was born on
February 11, 1924 to Alfred and
Florence Gaisford in King City,
California. She grew up as a cowgirl
on the Tannehill Ranch just
outside of King City, and graduated
from King City High School.
fter moving to Southern California,
she met and married her husband,
Lionel Fisette. They had
two wonderful daughters, Gayle and Patti. Shirley enjoyed horseback
riding, fishing, needlepoint, sewing and had a passion for gardening.
After raising their daughters in Southern California, Shirley and
Lionel moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, in 1979 to be near her
sister, Margaret. Shirley returned to California in 2005 after Lionel's
passing to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren.
In addition to Lionel, Shirley was preceeded in death by her parents;
sister, Margaret Jones; brother, Irvin Gaisford, and granddaughter,
Shannon DeMond. She is survived by daughters, Gayle N.
DeMond (Roger); Patti Backhaus (Curt); grandchildren, Jason De-
Mond (Sarah); Bria Schlottman (Justin), and Rana Backhaus. She is
also survived by great-grandchilden, Jordan DeMond, Allison De-
Mond and Jacob DeMond.
Shirley passed away on July 14th, 2010 after a long battle with
Alzheimer’s Disease.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday July 22, 2010 at 10:00
a.m. at the Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be
made to Alzheimer’s research in her name.
