MR. MACKEY DIED.
Our little town is deeply saddened this morning, with the news that Mr. J. W. MACKEY died during the night Monday, November 29 in a Denver hospital.
Mr. MACKEY was known throughout the county, and had done many fine things for our town. He will be sadly missed by all of us.

JOHN MACKEY DIED MONDAY. A resident of Red Cliff and a prominently known county leader died in Presbyterian Hospital in Denver November 29. Mr. MACKEY had undergone surgery for the removal of a brain tumor 12 days previous to his death.
Mr. MACKEY taught school for many years in Red Cliff, being superintendent of the former Red Cliff Union High. He served in various official capacities on the Red Cliff Town Board and fire department, being instrumental in the formation of that department. Mr. MACKEY worked endlessly to improve living and recreational conditions in Red Cliff, and was partially responsible for the formation of the water and sanitation district for that town.
He took an active lead in the Eagle County Republican party, and served as County Superintendent of Schools, before that office was abolished.
Memorial services were held in Red Cliff December 2 and interment will be Friday in Central City.
