MRS. VERN BAER DIES AT STEAMBOAT.
Former Eagle County resident Mrs. Verna Mae BAER died at the Routt County Memorial Hospital Jan. 18th after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage 10 days earlier.
Verna Mae HIGHT was born August 6, 1908 to Marcus and Ida HIGHT at Yampa, Colorado, the youngest of nine children. She attended a rural school near Yampa until moving with her parents to Eagle County, near Gypsum, where she completed her elementary education. In 1926, she was graduated from Eagle Valley High School [sic.]. Following graduation from High School, she attended Western State College at Gunnison, Colorado. Later she taught school for a number of years.
Verna was married to Cecil H. BAER on June 22, 1933 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. To this union was born three children. The family resided in Eagle County until 1942 when they moved to Routt County, which has been their home since.
Verna became a member of Rebekah Lodge in Gypsum in 1928. She has served continually in many capacities since that time. At the time of her death she was serving as District Deputy President. Sh was also Mother Advisor of Rainbow Assembly at Yampa, Colorado.
Verna lived her entire life in Colorado -- a dedicated wife, mother, and neighbor. She always found time to give of her love and time to all and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing her husband Cecil; two daughters Carol L. MOORE of Hayden, Colorado, and Carolyn Jean VAN DEVENDER of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sisters, Alma STEPHENS of Glenwood Springs, Colorado and Ethel PLASTERS of Buena Vista, Colorado; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Her parents and six brothers and sisters have preceded her in death.
Funeral Services were held on TuesdayJjanuary 21st at Root Mortuary in Steamboat Springs, Colorado with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum, Colorado.
