Betty Lorene Johnson, 91, of
Greeley / Grand Junction, passed
away on August 10, 2010. She
was born on February 24, 1919 in
West Plain, Missouri to Hugh and
Georgia Cunningham. During
WWII She worked at an airplane
factory in Kansas. She moved to
Greeley in 1945 and married D.
Lloyd Johnson on February 2,
1947 in Greeley, Colorado. Betty
was a farm wife in the Pleasant
Valley area in Colorado.
After retiring from farming, she
worked for the D & D Bean
Company, was a cook for School District 6, and operated one of the
first self service gas stations in Greeley with her husband. She was a
member of the Pleasant Valley Mom's Club. Betty was a good
bowler had many 300+ games and was state champion.
She is survived by her son, Gary Johnson and wife Beth, formerly
of Grand Junction and currently of the Loveland area; step daughter,
Marjorie Handcock and husband Marvin of Greeley, Colorado; 3
grandchildren, Brad Johnson and wife Carolin of Germany, Julia
Tompkins and husband Jeff of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Cristina
Johnson of Ft. Collins, Colorado; 2 step grandchildren and 4 great
grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 stepson.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August
19, 2010 at Allnutt Funeral Service in Greeley. A funeral service
will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 20, 2010 at Allnutt Funeral
Service in Greeley followed by interment at Sunset Memorial
Gardens in Greeley. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice
and Palliative Care of Mesa County in care of Allnutt Funeral
