John P. Proctor, 60, passed away
early Monday morning at his
home in Montrose, CO after a
strong fight to recover from sepsis
blood poisoning. John was
born August 23, 1950 to Charles
and Wilma (Colombo) Proctor in
Grand Junction, CO. He spent his
childhood in the Paradox Valley,
graduated from Nucla High
School, and then went on to UNC in Greeley, CO. John served his
country in the United States Air Force as an airplane radar technician
and returned home from the military to help work the family
farm and ranch when his father became ill. He spent the next several
years in Paradox where he started his own family. He and his
wife, Tish (Waggoner) Proctor, were married December 26, 1974
and they moved their family to Montrose in 1986. John worked for
the US Postal Service for over 20 years as a rural route carrier in
Montrose. John and Tish celebrated 35 years of marriage and had
three children together. John enjoyed golfing, hunting, working,
laughing, loving, and spending precious time with his family and
friends.
Surviving family members include his wife, Tish, of Montrose;
son, Travis (Teresa) Proctor, of Rockledge, FL; son, Casey (Melissa)
Proctor, of Montrose; daughter, Johnna (Will) Hall of Parker;
his mother, Wilma (Colombo) Proctor of Grand Junction; two sisters,
Billie (Johnny) Foust of Grand Junction and Jeanne Carver of
Grand Junction; a brother, Loren (Merced) Pogue of Delta; and five
grandchildren, Kaylee, Cody, Aiden, Kiersten, and Dalton John.
John was preceded in death by his father, Charles Proctor and a sister,
Bobbie Kay Proctor.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 4,
2010 at the Montrose Christian Church. A reception to celebrate
John's life will immediately follow at the Cobble Creek Clubhouse
in Montrose. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial
contributions be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western
Colorado, in memory of John Proctor. Arrangements are under the
direction of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory, Montrose.
