Harry “Arnold” Nottingham Jr.
was born July 29, 1916, to Harry
Arnold Nottingham Sr. and Marie
Cole Nottingham, on the family
ranch at Avon, Colorado. He
grew up on the ranch and graduated
from Eagle County High
School in 1934. He met and married
Millie B. Snook in 1943 at the office of the Justice of the Peace
in Grand Junction. Arnold and his family ranched until the 1970’s.
Upon retiring in 1980 he and his wife moved to the Grand Valley
where they have resided for the past 25 years. He spent his retirement
years doing lapidary, cutting rocks for jewlry and other artistic
things, especially bola ties. He loved his rocks and his family and
his classical music.
He is survived by his wife, Millie of Grand Jucntion; two sons,
Mallory and Marlon, both of Grand Junction; four daughters, Janee
Roche of Manhattan, Kansas; Elena Nottingham of Big Sky, Montana;
Aleta Nottingham of Meeker, Colorado; Cheryl Curl of Albuquerque,
NM; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Cremation has already taken place and a private family gathering
will take place at a later date.

ARNOLD NOTTINGHAM, 1916--2010
Harry "Arnold" NOTTINGHAM Jr. passed away on Sunday in Grand Junction surrounded by his family. He was 11 days away from his 94th birthday.
Arnold was born July 29, 1916, to Harry Arnold NOTTINGHAM Sr. and Marie Cole NOTTINGHAM on the family ranch in Avon. He grew up on the ranch and graduated from Eagle County High School in 1934. He met and married Millie B. SNOOK in 1943 at the office of the justice of the peace in Grand Junction. Arnold's grandfather,William Nottingham, homesteaded Avon in the 1880s, making Arnold a third-generation native. Arnold and his family continued to ranch in Avon and the Upper Eagle Valley until the 1970s. Upon retiring in 1980, he and his wife moved to the Grand Valley, where they have since resided. NOTTINGHAM spent his retirement years as a lapidary, cutting rocks for jewelry, bola ties and other artistic projects. He loved rocks, classical music and his family.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Marie, and his sister, Winifred Nottingham MASON. He is survived by his wife, Millie, of Grand Junction; two sons, Mallory and Marlon, both of Grand Junction; four daughters, Janee ROCHE, of Manhattan, Kan., Elena NOTTINGHAM, of Big Sky, Mont., Aleta NOTTINGHAM, of Meeker, and Cheryl CURL, of Albuquerque, N.M.; sisters Clare Nottingham LUNDGREN, of Grand Junction, and Carol Nottingham WHITNEY, of Santa Monica, Calif.; brothers Mauri NOTTINGHAM, of Avon, and Allan NOTTINGHAM, of Eagle; 10 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
