on Saturday, September 4, 2010
at the Hospice Care Center. She
was born on November 7, 1921 in
Thalia, Texas to Euliss Samuel
and Carrie Gladys (Bryson)
Flesher.
Maxine married Elbert Alan
"Kenny" Cannady on March 6,
1946 in Dallas, Texas. Partners in business and life adventures,
Maxine and Kenny were married 61 years. Maxine had many and
varied careers in business, farming and ranching and retired from
beekeeping, which she considered the most fascinating. She was an
active member of Crossroads United Methodist Church.
Hospitality was her joy. She loved planning and hosting family and
community events and kept her home filled with activity. In more
recent years she enjoyed daily eating out and socializing at local
restaurants. Maxine focused on assisting the physically challenged
to function in the real world.
She was a devoted mother to her son, Charles Lee Cannady. He
survives. Julia White is his legally appointed guardian. Other survivors
include a sister, Wilma Cannady of Grand Junction, CO; a
brother, Leland Flesher of Hereford, TX; a special niece and her
husband, Shirley and Ron Pate of Grand Junction, CO;
brothers-in-law, Herbert Cannady of Herrels, NC and Kenneth and
Paula Neil of Winter Park, FL and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Elbert; sister, Norma Vee Bryson and her parents
preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on
Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place
in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.
