2010, at Hospice Care Center.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday
at Veterans Memorial Cemetery
of Western Colorado.
Mr. Emms was a retired federal
employee.
Survivors include his wife,
Dorothy; two daughters, Janice
Emms of San Francisco and
Mena Heid of Las Vegas, Nev.;
two grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren;
and four greatgreat-
grandchildren.

Kenneth F. Emms of Grand
Junction passed away on July 25,
2010 at the Hospice Care Center.
Ken was born in Rawlins, WY
to Joseph and Fannie Emms and
grew up and graduated from high
school there.
After one year of Business College,
he served in the U.S. Army
Air Corps, 31st Photo Reconnaissance
Squadron, stationed in the U.S., England, France, Belgium,
and Germany from February, 1943 to November, 1945.
In August, 1949 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired in January,
1967. Assignments included the U.S., Korea, Okinawa and Japan.
In March, 1967 Ken chose a second career as a Letter Carrier
for the U.S. Postal Service and retired in May, 1985.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Grand Junction; his daughters,
Janice Emms of San Francisco, and Melva Heid of Las Vegas;
one nephew, LaVell Jones, and one niece, Janell Kakos of the Denver
area; two grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, July 30, 2010 at 10:00
a.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in
Grand Junction. Military honors will be performed by the Grand
Valley Combined Honor Guard, The Freedom Bell and the Patriot
Riders.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ken's name to Hospice
and Palliative Care of Western Colorado or your charity of choice.
Services have been entrusted to Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
