Vera Jay Baldrey, 53, of Eagle died Sunday, June 13, 2004, in Vail.
There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Eagle Methodist Church with Windsor Stough officiating. Interment will be at Sunset View Cemetery in Eagle. Visitation hours will be from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday at Farnum-Holt Funeral Home, 405 W. 7th St. in Glenwood Springs.
She was born July 28, 1950, in Kremmling, to Clarence and Margaret (Logan) Ettles. She married Ralph Baldrey on Sept. 7, 1968, in Gypsum.
She was a 40-year resident of Eagle and was a housewife.
Survivors include her mother of Grand Junction; her son, Ryan Baldrey of Eagle; daughters Cheri Maxwell and Regina Baldrey; brother Rick Ettles; and sisters Elizabeth Garrett, Sharon Gallagher and Janice Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her father; and her sisters Patty Hollingsworth, Diana Eggen and Toni Ettles.
The family suggests memorials to Shaw Regional Cancer Center, and to her four grandchildren, Gabe, Danny, Brendon and Jordan Maxwell.

Residents will remember three longtime Eagle County locals this week.Memorial services are scheduled this week for Jessie “Winfred” Luark and Vera Jay Baldrey. A memorial service for Les Raleigh Normandin is scheduled for July.Jessie “Winfred” LuarkJessie “Winfred” Luark, of Gypsum, died at her home June 11. She was 78.Luark was born to Clyde and Ida Schlagel on Sept. 15, 1925 in Glenwood Springs. She grew up and was raised on the Schlegel Homestead, graduating from Gypsum High School in 1943. She continued her education at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, where she received her Teaching Degree.She returned to the Burns area and taught school until she married a local rancher, Wilbur Luark of Burns, on July 3, 1948. She spent most of her life in the Burns area as a rancher’s wife and raising her family.Friends and family said her dedication to her husband and family was her greatest strength, and that she loved to cook.She is survived by her daughter, Susan Banegas Luark and family of Phoenix, Ariz.; Mike Luark and family of Gypsum; Pat Luark and family of Burns; and Orbit Luark and family of Kansas City, Mo. She had 11 grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Luark, and brothers Wesley, Norman and Clark Schlegel. Memorial services are to be held at the Luark Ranch in Burns, June 15. He lived in the Roaring Fork Valley and the Vail Valley for 35 years.Friends said Normandin spent most of his time growing up in the Colorado Rockies, enjoying the mountain lifestyle. He kayaked for many years in the Grand Canyon, the Arkansas River, and the Crystal River near Carbondale.Normandin earned his professional golfer status from the Presideo Golf Course, San Francisco, CA., in 1995. An accomplished shooter, he took first place in numerous shooting contests with members of the FBI.Normandin worked as a custom carpenter when he could make time between his outdoor adventures.He is survived by his sister, Pat Jacobs of Parker; and two brothers, Tim Normandin of Greeley and Max Normandin of Loveland. Friends and family say he will be sorely missed by them and his cat Putter.The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held in July.
