Evelyn Louise BARDSLEY, formerly of Gypsum, died April 3 in Englewood,, Colo. following an extended illness. She was 72.
Evelyn was born march 25, 1924 in Salida, Colo. to Eagle Valley pioneers Oscar and Jennie ANDERSON. She grew up in Gypsum and graduated from high school there in 1942. She was very involved in music and in school and community activities. She married Lee BARDSLEY of Squaw Creek on July 14, 1946. Together the couple traveled extensively before settling in Englewood.
Evelyn's sense of beauty and tireless hard work made her an outstanding gardener. The award winning gardens at the home of her parents in Gypsum brought the admiration of all who passed by. Many have enjoyed the fruits of her thoughtful labor but none more than her loved ones. Evelyn devoted her life to her family, her children, her grandchildren and always had time to help a friend.
She is survived by her husband, Lee; three sons, Gary, Rod and Alan; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bernard.
Memorial services and internment were held April 10 at Drinkwine Mortuary in Littleton and at Fort Logan Cemetery in Englewood. A memorial and dedication in Evelyn's name will be held this summer at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum for the benefit of her many friends and family in the Eagle Valley.
