Unknown

James (Tex) BARLOW, 27, was killed instantly, and Joseph GARDNER 23, was seriously injured while they were at work Tuesday afternoon on the bottom of the 170 foot shaft of the Osage Mining Companies workings in Lower Rochester when a charge of dynamite which failed to explode as the round was fired earlier, shot them with rock fragments. He was directly over the charge and the rock fragments entered several parts of his body, inflicted head injuries and tore away his left arm.
The dead man had worked 20 shifts. He went to Lower Rochester from Red Cliff, CO., where he followed mining. His wife and a baby only a few months old were to have started yesterday to join him.
Mrs. Barlow wired today that she was on her way to this city and to hold arrangements for the funeral for her husband in abeyance pending her arrival tomorrow.
