Tito Montoya, 87, resident of Minturn since 1950, passed away Aug. 3 at his residence.
He was born April 26, 1924 to Tranquilino and Salome Montoya in Lucero, N.M. Tito married the late Viola Montoya on April 1, 1963, in Eagle County. He worked for the New Jersey Zinc Mine for 45 years and for the town of Vail Maintenance Department for 27 years.
Tito is survived by daughters Hazel Chavez and husband Ernest, Geneva Duran and husband Richard; brother Ben and wife Bernie; grandchildren Monica Manzanarez and husband Joe, Holly Sandoval and husband Sam, Jeanette Blankenship, Wendy Duran and husband Gilbert, Richard Duran II and wife Raquel, Ernie Chavez and Amy Duran; great-grandchildren JJ and Krysta Manzanarez, Cody Blankenship, Zeke and Kyleigh Sandoval, Alyssa and Jared Duran and Keenan and Koby Duran; great-great-grandchildren Krystyna Manzanarez and Phoenix Manzanarez. He is preceded in death by his wife, Viola, parents, four brothers and one sister.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday at St. Patrick's Parish Church with The Rev. Father Roger Lascelle officiating. Burial was at Riverview Cemetery in Minturn. Bailey-Kent Funeral Home of Leadville assisted the family with arrangements.

Visitation will be held Sunday at St. Patrick's Parish Church in Minturn at 6 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at St. Patrick's Parish Church at 10 a.m. with The Rev. Father Roger Lascelle officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Minturn. Bailey-Kent Funeral Home of Leadville is assisting the family with arrangements.
