RYAN BATES 1985--2001.
Ryan BATES, 16, died Thursday, December 27, 2001, at home after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born December 5, 1985. Ryan and his family lived in Eagle and Gypsum in the late 90's. He attended both Eagle Valley Elementary and Eagle Valley Middle School.
Ryan loved hockey, wrestling, and music. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Gypsum. He is survived by his mother, Debby, and brother, Darren, of Huntington Beach, CA, his father, Kevin, of Eugene, Oregon, his aunt and uncle, Barb and Jeff LAYMAN and cousins Nicole and Zac of Eagle-Vail, and grandparents Larry and Evelyn HOPPY of Grand Junction. There will be a service in Huntington Beach on January 5, 2002. Friends will gather locally at the First Lutheran Church of Gypsum for a memorial in the weeks to follow.

Former Eagle County teen dies of cancer.
Ryan BATES died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at home after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was 16.
Ryan was born Dec. 5, 1985. He and his family lived in Eagle and Gypsum in the late `990s. He attended both Eagle Valley Elementary and Eagle Valley Middle School.
