Mr. Lopez was a carpenter
and builder.
Survivors include his wife,
Erma M.; one son, Shay; three
daughters, Lana, Misty and Ambre;
two brothers and one sister.

James Michael Lopez passed
away after a lengthy illness at La
Villa Grande Nursing Home on
September 20, 2010. He was 65
years old.
James was born on March 16,
1945 to Adolph and Eva (Vialpando)
Lopez in Grand Junction.
He spent his childhood here, attending
and graduating from
Grand Junction High School. He married Erma Archuleta in Grand
Junction in 1995. She survives.
James was in construction for most of his working career. He was a
resident of the Grand Valley for his entire life with the exception of
serving his Country in the U.S. Army (101st Airborne Division
“Screaming Eagles”) from 1966 - 1970. He also served his community
by volunteering at the VA Hospital for 15 years and the Grand
Valley Catholic Outreach for ten years. He enjoyed fishing, and
building bird houses. James was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic
Church.
He is survived by a son, Shay; and daughters, Lana, Misty and
Ambre; two brothers, Jesse and Ben, and one sister, Sarah.
A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, September 23, at 7:00 p.m.
at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. A Catholic Mass will be held on Friday,
September 24th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church with burial
to follow. Reverend Edmundo Valera will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, James’ family asks that donations be made to
Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado.
