FLOYD A. BEARD, 1926--2000.
Floyd A. BEARD died of natural causes on June 8 at his home in Longmont. He was 74. Mr. Beard was born Aug. 23, 1926 in Rifle, Co. to Claude BEARD and Viola E. Terry BEARD. He was a retired Guest Ranch Manager and Wrangler, at Seven W Guest Ranch Hill Top Girl Camp and Anderson Camps of Sweetwater Creek near Gypsum.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1944--1945in Japan and was a member of the Lake County Sheriff's Dept/; N.R.A. Legion of Honor; Erie Seniors; Lifetime NRA of Honor; Gypsum Odd Fellows. He was an avid outdoorsman, a rancher in Basalt, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseback riding and reading. Mr. BEARD lived most of his life on the Western Slope in Edwards, Basalt, Leadville and Gypsum and in Longmont from 1995 until his death.
He is survived by daughters Alice L. BESLER-North, Powder, Ore. and Rita ELLIS of Erie; a brother, Harold BEARD, Bakersfield, Calif.; a sister, Rosie Mae DUNCAN, El Paso, Tex., and Ruby MORDEN, Post Falls, Idaho; two grandsons, three great grandchildren and life caregiver and loving friend Joan ELTING, Longmont.
Mr. BEARD was preceded in death by his parents.
