Roy Lee Mitchell of Grand Junction died near Telluride, Colorado on August, 20th, 2010, at the age of 48. Roy was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1961, and came to live in Colorado with his family in 1970. Roy graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1979, and later served in the U.S. Army. He worked for the past 22 years at the Optical Center and was a Certified Optician by the American Board of Opticianry. Roy was happiest with the wind in his hair and the sun on his face while riding his motorcycles, and he also enjoyed a wide range of music. He was loving to the people and animals in his life and had many close friends who were important to him. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Mitchell and aunt, Lucile Lydiatte, both of Grand Junction; his brother, Ron Mitchell; sister-in-law, Tatjana; niece, Haile Mitchell and nephew, Aleksander Mitchell, all of Denver. He was preceded in death in 1977 by his father, Roy Lester Mitchell. Services will be Friday, August 27th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Callahan Edfast Mortuary, to be followed by a military service at 1:00 p.m. at the Veteran's Cemetery. At 2:00 p.m. a gathering of Roy's loved ones will be held at Sherwood Park to celebrate his life.

Roy Lee Mitchell, 48, Grand Junction, died Aug. 20, 2010, near Telluride. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Interment will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado. Mr. Mitchell was an optometrist technician. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy of Grand Junction, and one brother, Ron of Denver.
