Alta Merie Fontanari went home
to be with the Lord on August 24,
2010 at 11:00 a.m. after a short
illness. She had just turned 99
years old on August 15th. She
was born in 1911 in Jackson
County, Florida to Herbie Lee and
Maudie Francis (Cowan) Haynes.
The family moved to Clifton,
Colorado in 1929. Alta spent the
rest of her life in Palisade and Clifton. She was a long time member
of Royal Neighbors of America. Alta retired from the State Home &
Training School after 20 years. She then volunteered at St. Mary’s
Hospital and the VA Hospital for more than 30 years. She was a
member of Pear Park Baptist Church at 3102 E Road.
Alta is survived by two sons and one daughter, Andy (Glenda)
Fontanari of Glendale, AZ; Rudy (Carol) Fontanari of Clifton, CO,
and Judy (Jim) Gregory of Glendale, AZ; six grandchildren, and five
great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to funeral services on Monday, August
30th at 10:00 a.m. at Pear Park Baptist Church. Burial will be at
the Palisade Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon will be served at
12:30 at the Church in the Fellowship Hall.
Psalm 25:5 Lead me in thy truth and teach me: for thou art the God
of my salvation on thee do I wait all the day.

Clifton resident Alta M. Fontanari,
99, died Aug. 24, 2010, in
Arizona.
Visitation will be before the
10 a.m. services Monday at Pear
Park Baptist Church.
Mrs. Fontanari worked at
the State Home and Training
School, the predecessor to
the Grand Junction Regional
Center.
Survivors include two sons,
Andy of Glendale, Ariz., and
Rudy of Clifton; one daughter,
Judy Gregory of Glendale; six
grandchildren; and fi ve greatgrandchildren.
