Henry "Earl" Heusser, Jr. was
born on February 15, 1930 to
Henry Earl and Leona Heusser in
Salt Lake City, Utah where he
grew up with his sisters, Virginia
and Jeanine. After graduating
from the University of Utah with
a Bachelor of Science in Biology,
he married Irene "Dolly" Lloyd in
the Salt Lake City Temple. Their
life together began with Earl enlisting in the United Stated Marine
Corp which lasted a year until he contracted Polio. After recuperation
he then continued his love of learning and received his Master's
and Doctoral degrees in Education.
Earl was an educator of Biology and other subjects in various
schools and colleges including his time as Professor of Education at
Western Colorado University. He also enjoyed teaching his six children
together with Dolly. The children include Karl (deceased) and
Regina Heusser of Salt Lake City, Utah; Michael and Anna Heusser
of Eagle Point, Oregon; Karen and Jef Horne of Fallon, Nevada;
Eric and Christine Heusser of San Jose, California; Kurt and Marchia
Heusser of Bountiful, Utah, and Dawn and Kevin Crawford of
Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Earl was a lover of nature and all of it’s birds, especially birds of
prey, hunting, bicycling, and contemplating life's possibilities. Earl
was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints where he loved serving, and did so faithfully, as a teacher, as
a member of the bishopbric, and as a missionary.
Earl and Dolly celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in 2007.
Shortly after, Dolly left this earth. Earl continued his quest to "never
retire" until Monday, October 18th when he joined his sweetheart.
Earl also joins their son, Karl Heusser and their grandson, Jeremiah
Horne.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held at the L.D.S. Church on 2949 Highway
50 at 11:30 on Friday, October 22, 2010. There will be a viewing
from 10 to 11:15 before the services. Burial will be in the Veterans
Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado at 1:00 p.m.
