Ruth Josephine Stewart January 21, 1916 – January 8, 2011 Our beloved mother, Ruth Josephine Stewart went to be with her Lord on January 8, 2011. She was 94. Ruth was born on January 21, 1916 in Junction City, KS to James E. Bailey and Sarah Bell (Stice) Bailey. The family lived in Junction City, KS; Rye, CO and Pueblo, CO where she graduated from Central High School. On February 29, 1936 she was married to Simeon R. Stewart. They pastored several small churches across Colorado. Ruth was the mother of four children, Rodger (Joan) Stewart of El Cajon, CA; Ruth LaVerne (Don) Ray of Grand Junction, CO; Harold Stewart of Harrison, AR, and Brenda Ulibarri (Barney Higgins) of Glenwood Springs, CO. She is survived by 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by six brothers, Robert, Lewis, Leslie, Marvin, Don, and Glen Bailey, her sisters; Mabel Willson, Lillian Carns, Pansy Conger, Cherald Bailey, and Elsie Patterson. Ruth loved being a homemaker and served her husband and children well. After raising her children she worked at Porter Memorial Hospital in Denver, CO and retired in 1987. She moved to Grand Junction where she attended First Assembly of God and was active in Prime Timers. She loved helping serve dinners, she loved her Lord, and loved to encourage others. She also loved to play the piano, sing hymns, and faithfully prayed for her family and church. A visitation will be held from 9 - 10:00 a.m. before the funeral service which will be held on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Living Stone Church, 2971 North Avenue, with Pastor Jerry Gonzales officiating and a graveside service at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mesa Manor Care Center, 2901 North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506. Arrangements are under the care of Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.

Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Monday at Livingstone Church. Services will follow at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Ms. Stewart was a homemaker.
