Peggy S. Brister, 88, Palisade,
died Oct. 24, 2010, at Family
Health West.
Services will be at 2 p.m.
Saturday at Palisade Municipal
Cemetery.
Ms. Brister was a technician
at the Grand Junction Regional
Center.
She is survived by four sons,
Michael Lusk of Chino Hills,
Calif., Robert Irvine of Texas,
Charles Irvine of Corsicana, Texas,
and William Irvine of Grand
Junction; one daughter, Joan L.
Ballantyne of Grand Junction;
12 grandchildren; and 23 greatgrandchildren.

Peggy Brister was born Margaret
Lillian Shema on August 7,
1922 in Atwater, Minnesota to
Edward and Opal Follett Shema.
Raised in Minneapolis and trained
in nursing, she moved to the
Western Slope and settled in Palisade,
CO where she worked at
Grand Junction Regional Center
with the developmentally disabled
for over 20 years before retiring.
Peggy led an active life and could often be found out-of-doors,
enjoying nature, hiking and riding her bicycle. She loved animals
and kept several dogs, birds and other creatures as pets throughout
her lifetime. She was well read and loved poetry and music and
spent many hours working on word puzzles. Peggy was a Christian
woman who found joy in studying God's word and took pride in her
faith.
Peggy passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends at
Family Health West in Fruita, Colorado on October 24, 2010 at the
age of 88.
She is survived by her children, Michael Lusk, Joan Ballantyne,
Robert Irvine, Charles Irvine, William Irvine, 12 grandchildren and
23 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Palisade Cemetery on Saturday,
October 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to Grand
Junction Regional Center, Family Health West, or Hospice & Palliative
Care of Western Colorado.
Arrangements entrusted to Snell-McLean Funeral Home.
