After a 14-month battle with
brain cancer, Kenny Gross passed
away November 15, 2010 at 2:25
a.m. at the Hospice Care Center
with his wife, their three daughters
and two dogs at his side. He
was 56 years old.
A remembrance gathering for
Kenny will be held at Bananas
Pavilion in Grand Junction at
10:00 a.m. on December 6. Come "Kenny G style" - dressed casually
- to remember the longtime Grand Junction resident.
Kenny grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut; graduated high school
there, and later attended Arizona State University.
Kenny led a full life and experienced many adventurous journeys
along the way. He sailed from Honolulu to Tahiti, spending 23 days
at sea. He hiked with Rob Washington from Redding, California to
British Columbia, a journey that took three months. He loved surfing,
snow skiing, golfing, baseball, and was an amazing chef who
loved to cook for family and friends.
Kenny was the executive chef at Gladstones and the Bookcliff
Country Club for many years. He was a food salesman for Quality
Meat and spent the last ten years servicing Shamrock Foods.
Kenny had many loves in his life, but none more important than his
wife, Shawna of 23 years, and their three daughters, Lexie, 20, Dylana,
17, and Haley, 14. Other survivors include Kenny's brothers,
Michael and Bill, and his sister, Linda.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kenny's
name to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado 3090B
North 12th Street, Grand Junction, Colorado 81506; or Roice-Hurst
